The Riverbend story started over 50 years ago.  It has always been privately owned by local families, creating an intimate bond with the community and the experience and understanding that can only come within a long-term relationship of caring.

This facility began as the Chelsea Nursing Home with the late, beloved local doctor Brewster Martin and his wife, Clara.  The Martins also helped start the Chelsea Health Center and contributed to the Clara Martin Center, both of which still support the physical and mental health of many of our residents and community members.

The family of the current owner, Jennifer Doyle, followed the Martins and transitioned the facility to a Residential Care Home.  Having started working at Riverbend at age 13, Jennifer purchased the business in 2004, and continues the tradition of care with support from her husband Amos and even visits from her two sons that delight the residents and staff.
