Residential/Personal Care Assistant

Qualifications:

  • Good health and character, neat appearance

  • Ability to work in cooperation and harmony with other staff members, management and residents

  • Ability to follow written or verbal orders

  • Ability to work willingly and patiently with residents and co workers

  • Clear background check

  • Must be at least 16 years old to work and 18 years old to be left unsupervised


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual and dependable. It is your responsibility to check the time schedule and be on time. You must call for your own replacement. Preferred 12 hour notice to call ins.

  • Demonstrate courteous manner to residents, family members, visitors, and fellow staff members.

  • Maintain a cheerful, warm, and friendly attitude in the facility to better serve the residents.

  • All information concerning residents must be kept confidential following HIPAA regulations.

  • Adhere to Policies and Procedures as established by the facility.

  • Adhere to dress code.

  • Attend in-service training and testing, at least 12 hours per year.

  • Maintain knowledge of the fire and emergency procedures.

  • Provide residents with personal care under the supervision of and as directed by the management, job tasks related to patient care are delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse.

    • Be responsible for bathing, dressing, grooming, and transporting residents, making beds, cleaning rooms and facility.

    • Be aware of resident’s dietary restrictions, serves meals, and assists with dining room clean up, food preparation, cooking.

    • Be alert to any changes in a resident’s condition and reports such changes immediately to the charge person, management or RN.

    • Answer call bells promptly and courteously, appropriately interacts with families, visitors, medical staff and guardians.

    • Assist with admissions, discharges, and/or transfers of residents and their belongings.

    • Participate and assist with residents getting to and performing activities.

    • Maintain a safe environment for the residents in their rooms and outside their rooms, making maintenance aware of any safety concerns.

    • Assist with housekeeping chores, cooking and cleaning as outlined daily.

    • Basic nursing and restorative duties for which the PCA is prepared by education and supervised practice.

  • Work as a team member, knowing that meeting resident’s needs and ensuring their quality of life is essential.  Therefore, be ready to do whatever is needed and as directed.

Shifts & Hours
  • Mornings: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Afternoons: 4 - 8:30 p.m.

  • Evenings: 2 - 10 p.m.

  • Overnight: 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.
